When cleaning mirrors or windows, just spray on some glass cleaner and then wipe it down with wadded-up newspaper. It won’t leave any streaks or lint, and you won’t have to scrub so hard or for so long.

Peg Bracken

Ruth Eleanor Bracken was born in 1918 in Filer, Idaho, and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Antioch College in 1940, and subsequently moved to Portland, Oregon. There she worked with Homer Groening (father of Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons) on a syndicated cartoon. Soon she began writing, and published her first book, The 9-Month's Wonder, in 1958. She went on to write The I Hate to Cook Book, and several other books dealing with issues of etiquette, housewifery, and travel. She published a memoir in 1981 called A Window Over the Sink, and a collection of essays, called On Getting Old for the First Time. She died on October 20, 2007, and is survived by her fourth husband, a daughter, a step-daughter, and two step-sons. She has made the lives of women everywhere brighter for having read her work.
